Our Commitment to Privacy

Your privacy is an important concern to us at NABCJ. Our goal in explaining our policy on the collection and use of member data is to ensure the highest level of confidentiality and security. Our policy is an association-wide policy. To better protect your privacy, we provide this notice explaining our online and office information practices and the choices you can make about the way your information is collected and used. To make this notice easy to find, we make it available on our homepage and at every point where personally identifiable information may be requested.

The Information We Collect

We work to safeguard member data obtained online in the same manner we protect the personal information you provide when registering for our conference or information you surrender when applying for membership. When you give your personal information to NABCJ (such as name, address, phone number, agency name, work or fax numbers, or e-mail addresses) we will not distribute or sell your individual information to any outside company for its use in marketing or solicitation without your express written consent.

Personal information will not be released to third parties except to further the purposes for which you provide the information, such as facilitating a request on your behalf, or if the release of your information is required by law, or is pertinent to judicial or governmental investigations or proceedings. There are no other circumstances under which NABCJ will provide your information to third parties. NABCJ will not release or use any of your personal information in its promotional materials or related documents without your expressed written consent. This means, we never use or share the personally identifiable information provided to us online or in our office in ways unrelated to the ones described in this policy without providing you an opportunity to opt-out or otherwise prohibit such unrelated uses. Your silence does not authorize NABCJ to use your information and in this respect, you have to opt-in for your information to be released.

How We Use Your Information

We will maintain the confidentiality of your personal information and it will be used only to enhance your membership relationship with NABCJ. When NABCJ asks for member information, it is done with the sole goal of improving the relationship between the member and NABCJ. At NABCJ, our intention is to send e-mail and postal mailings only to members or to individuals whom we believe have chosen to receive such information. At any time, you have the right to opt-out of receiving future NABCJ communications.

Our Commitment to Information Security

Your personal information is stored in a secure location, is accessible only by designated individuals, and is used only for the purposes for which you provide the information (such as to reply to your request or handle your complaint). We are working to install the most sophisticated technology available to help protect the transmission of member information over the Internet. To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the correct use of information, we have put in place appropriate physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect from you. Our Web site is linked to other organizations but NABCJ takes no responsibility for your privacy while you are visiting those sites. You will need to refer to their respective privacy statements while visiting those sites.

Our Commitment to Children’s Privacy

Protecting the privacy of the very young is especially important. For that reason, we never collect or maintain information at our Web site from those we actually know are under 16, and no part of our Web site is structured to attract anyone under 16.
